Main facts regarding PBI and ATIGI Daisy Jackson / 28/02/2023 After today's tutorial session, Sarah and Molly mentioned how I should do further research into ATIGI. As well as this, I want to research more into PBI too so I know what information to include on my packaging. ATIGI - Canda Goose's ATIGI collection focuses on 'inuit women in Canada's North' - Canada Goose is inspired by everything up in the North such as communities, people and it's landscapes - Project ATIGI focuses on the legacy, craftmanship and traditions of inuit design - ATIGI translates to 'parka' - Partnered with Victoria Kakuktinniq for the designs - ' Kakuktinniq uses her platform to promote the use of sealskin in the fashion industry, working to build an engaged audience for Inuit fashion and culture and the use of traditional materials such as sealskin.  For Kakuktinniq, sealskin coats and accessories are more than fashion statements; they are a part of her heritage and the u...

Main criteria notes for my project Daisy Jackson / 28/02/2023 On this blog post I will add notes based on major criteria for my project.

Creating an illustrative logo for ATIGI - 27/02/2023

Image
Creating an illustrative logo for ATIGI Daisy Jackson / 27/02/2023 The ATIGI range focuses on Native American women. I wanted to highlight this empowerment through a symbol which can be presented in a luxurious way on the packaging.  Here is my logo process: This was inspired by the female gender symbol and I thought it would look great replacing the circle with the Canada Goose logo. After looking at this, I wanted to edit it more and see what I could create. This is the edited version of the original. I loved the way it turned out and looks very professional. However, after looking at it more closely, I realised that it did not scream luxury. It also did not fit in with the colour scheme I originally wanted. I then altered this like so: Having a combination of black, gold and white on the packaging screams luxury to me. This delivers the point very well and I think looks great. I will include this on my packaging but I also will more than likely edit this further on in the proces...

Creating further ideas for my packaging - 27/02/2023

Creating further ideas for my packaging Daisy Jackson / 27/02/2023 After looking at both my ideas for the packaging brief - one being a 5 in 1 coathanger and the other being a box poster, I decided to go with the box poster idea. Why? Because I feel this is more illustrative and more useful for many as it encourages collecting and purchases. Here are a few more examples of my idea: The idea for this is to have the box packaging fold inside out and reveal facts about PBI and ATIGI. This is informative and also illustrative. I also think it is easier to understand for the customer and not too much hassle.  There will be 5 different designs. One of these poster designs will be a limited edition rare version which will encourage purchases.  I have decided to change the product to the PBI T-shirt range as the packaging box I purchased was a lot smaller than expected. This actually ended up being more of a blessing than a curse as it is less waste regardless if the customer decides ...

Digitalising packaging design ideas - 26/02/2023

Digitalising packaging design ideas Daisy Jackson / 26/02/2023 Preparing for the midpoint, I wanted to make my design ideas much more visual. This will allow thr judges to see my ideas clearer and see what I want to achieve with this project. This is my poster packaging design. I used actual photos of polar bears as I have no illustrations yet but I wanted to reflect what realism I wanted to achieve as well as my main ideas. I took the original photos and edited them so they were black and white and focused more on positive and negative space. I included a range of different colour choices as well as what I will include for my poster design in the centre of the inside packaging. This will be a combination of all the front cover designs. Including the logo will be great. I also wanted to include the ATGI range which focuses on Native American women Ralph Lauren: For Ralph Lauren, I wanted to focus on their collaboration with Soil Health Institute as well as their Pink Pony range which f...

Looking into art to inspire my packaging for Canada Goose - 26/02/2023

Looking into art to inspire my packaging for Canada Goose Daisy Jackson / 26/02/2023 To begin idea generation for creating cover art for the packaging, I decided it would be best to look into the work of other artists to further inspire what I will do for mine. On this blog post I will be exploring different artist's work. The Laughing Mule I love the work of The Laughing Mule. His work focuses quite closely on negative and positive space and I think this would be perfect for my packaging. Luxury to me is very basic and straight forward. This style of art fits that criteria and I think I could create really unique luxury packaging with it. Using the white background on the packaging would be really great for this style of art as I could use the whole packaging for it. I want to encorporate the style of The Laughing Mule with polar bears as I think I could use the black negative space for a great message for climate change. Van Nishing Van Nishing has a very interesting style. It al...

Creating rough design ideas for redesigning of luxury packaging - 20/02/2023

Creating rough design ideas for redesigning of luxury packaging Daisy Jackson / 20/02/2023 After researching into both brands Ralph Lauren and Canada Goose, I believe I have enough information regarding sustainability and so forth to proceed forward with the design process. Here are my ideas: With this one, focusing on Ralph Lauren and Canada Goose, this idea can apply to both brands but obviously only one idea will fully go forward. The idea behind this is to promote the various United Nations sustainability goals that these brands achieve and promote them in an illustrative way on the packaging. The packaging will be made out of corrogated cardboard and will use luxurious colours. The front will have the brand's logo followed by an illustration which reflects their work on sustainability. The back will do the same and provide various information. On the inside will be another illustration which can be then folded out as though it is a poster. I could also make this into a stand w...

Ideas to focus on for video - 15/02/2023

Image
Ideas to focus on for video Daisy Jackson / 15/02/2023 Part of our project includes creating a short video promoting the research we have done as well as the packaging we have redesigned. Canada Goose: For the video I will include videos of polar bears as well as individuals wearing Canada Goose. It will include facts about how Canada Goose have contributed to PBI (as well as explaining what PBI is) and how they have achieved other goals within the United Nations 17 goals of sustainability. It will then analyse the redesigning of the packaging while analysing the old packaging and what I have improved on. Here is a moodboard I have created: Looking at the contrast of some of these images is heartbreaking. From a happy polar bear to a starving one impacted by climate change. The work of PBI helps contribute research towards the polar bears and helps raise awareness as well as contributing to the survival of these beautiful creatures. Creating an emotive design for the packaging is a gre...

Looking into target market group for Canada Goose - 15/02/2023

Looking into target market group for Canada Goose Daisy Jackson / 15/02/2023 To begin research for Canada Goose (as I have already researched into the target market groups for Ralph Lauren - my other chosen luxury brand), I think it is a great step forward to look at the target market group for Canada Goose. This way I have a better understanding on who the products are aimed for as well as the packaging.  When searching into the target market group, these were the results: Millenials are individuals born around the 1980s and 1990s. Gen-Z includes individuals born from 1996 to 2010. This shows a large age bracket difference and shows how Canada Goose's clothes interest individuals of all ages. This is great as it is a flexible target market group. The Canada Goose Chilliwacker (the PBI range), seems to come in all different sizes fitted for a variety of age groups. Personally from this I feel like the target audience is extremely flexible. This means when creating my packaging I ha...
